Last year, 8080 Baybay was the team’s first race outside Cebu with over 250 participants coming from different regions across the country, including Cebu, Dipolog, Boracay, Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and General Santos (ranked from most to least participants).
This summer, they are returning in Leyte to bring you one of the region’s highly-anticipated sports events—the 8080 Triathlon to be hosted by the City of Baybay on SUNDAY, 29 APRIL 2018.
The company has already established great reputation in Cebu and in some areas in the Visayas for their high-quality sporting events. The San Rem 8080 in Cebu has already been acknowledged as one of the top 3 races in the Philippines by swimbikerun.ph.
Last year’s triathlon event earned praise from triathletes because of the city’s great race route and excellent traffic management. Raymund Sacro, a member of the Baybay City Tri Team is encouraging more Baybayanos to join the triathlon as LGU is promoting Sports Tourism in the city and is very supportive of athletes.
Joining local sports groups like the Baybay City Runners doesn’t only boost your camaraderie and road to a healthy lifestyle, but these organizations also have certain causes like pro-environment activities such as Basura Run and Clean-up Drives.
Cornerstone’s triathlon events are efforts in inspiring upcoming athletes to consider alternative sports, while it will also be a vehicle in raising awareness and jump starting sports tourism in provincial towns and cities like Baybay.
