Baybay City 11th Charter Day: Schedule of Activities

Baybay City in Leyte will be celebrating its 11th Charter Day on June 16, 2018. Baybay’s ascension to its cityhood status had its share of challenges as it was reverted into town status 3 times. In 2017, the city was conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Today, it is one of the fastest growing urban centers in the province. Baybay is an important seaport in the west coast of Leyte and a global producer of abaca and coconuts. It is also the home of Visayas State University, one of the country’s leading institutions for agricultural research and studies.

On its 11th Charter Day, the city government headed by its mayor, Carmen L. Cari together with the 5th District of Leyte Representative, Cong. Jose Carlos L. Cari has a series of activities lined-up for the occasion.
